need help for videx 80 column card for ][+

i just bought a ][+ the other day, and its got a 80 column card from
videx, and the setup on it is kinda weird, let me explain.   the card fits
in a slot like normal, but it has two wires coming off of the card at the
end going to a small circuit board about an inch square that's plugged
into the chip socket at location F8.  on that little circuit board are
three more connections; one going to the 4 pin video connector right
behind the built in rca connection on the planar, another cable being
about two feet long ending with a female rca connector, and the other
cable going to a bracket that fits on the backplane, which has two female
rca plugs, one labeled m, and the other labeled a, with a toggle switch
that looks like it switches between the two. what does all this do? am i
going to need a setup disk or something? if you know something about this,
and can volunteer some information, give me a shout!
