Dos 3.3 Launcher w/o HD: what is this error?

First off, details, details: I'm running System 6.0.1 on a 2MB RAM GS.
I have a bunch of old Dos 3.3 games on 5.25", and thus the Dos 3.3
Launcher program I found on an archive site sounded appealing. However,
the docs repeatedly state "...place [...] in the root dir of your HD."
Lovely. I don't have a HD yet.
So I'm trying the same thing with an 800K RAMdisk, creating /RAM5/DOS3.3
and allocating files as appropriate. Starting Dos3.3 Launcher by itself
has predictable results; I go into ProDos 8, then see "Dos 3.3 Launcher,
by John MacLean (name from memory, pardon me if it's off):
ERROR: No startup file." However...
When I click on a Dos3.3 icon, I get the "I can't find DOS3.3 Launcher."
Using -locate- to find the launcher in /RAM5/DOS3.3 goes as usual, but
then instead of going into the launcher, I get FATAL: System Error 1E42.
What is this error? It's not "out of memory", 'cause I've tried doing it
without a RAMdisk altogether from 3.5"s, and this happens almost instantly
anyway. It worked -- ONCE -- last night, when I was tinkering with the
Key.Bored sample file; now, when I try to reproduce my success, no dice.
Any help is appreciated, as this utility looks to be well worth the
shareware fee.
jeff. time to get a SCSI drive, on my next paycheck.
