I have a GS and a disk ][ card that allows for 2 disk ][ to be connected but I
only have one.  When I make the preferences NOT "check 5.25's on startup" it
automatically throws 2 5.25's on the desktop.  Sure it doesn't poll the
drive(s) but it thinks there are two since the card can handle two.
