Another idea is setting slot-6 to 'Your Card' in the control panel.
Not only does this disable 5.25 polling under the Finder and all GS/OS software,
but also under ProDOS 8. I find the polling exteremly annoying, especially under
ProTERM or 8-bit ShrinkIt, where both poll the drive at least two or three times
before giving up. Under rare occations when I want to use the 5.25 drive again,
I just set slot-6 back to 'Disk Port' and do a warm-boot. If I didn't have the
control panel option, I would have disconnected the drive long ago! ;-)
