][gs troubles

On my desk at Capital, I have a ROM 01 ][gs.

Occasionally, for no apparent reason, I hear a noise from the speaker
which sounds suprisingly like static. Other than that, nothing seems amiss.

(System configuration: no cards installed.)

Also, recently, while running DOS 3.3 and GPLE.LC and while programming
Applesoft, I pressed {RESET} (one of my favorite keys) to reconnect GPLE
(my program had disconnected GPLE with a PR#3 command), and instead of
getting a blank 80-column screen, I got a bouncing apple with...

Fatal system error 0911

Anybody know what that means? I shut down, the problem recurred, so I
shut down and removed the memory expansion board (basic GS memory
expansion, no socketed chips installed). Heck, I can't use that memory
from Applesoft, anyway (at least not under DOS 3.3!). No recurrances
since removing the card.

Any guesses for either of these problems?

(I inherited the machine from a now-under-reconstruction campus computer lab)
