My ROM 01 motherboard did this.  I was able to relieve it somewhat by
pulling all 4 pullable chips iand cleaning the pins good with a pencil
eraser and rubbing alcohol (be CAREFUL not to get eraser bits in the
chip sockets, or to put the chips in the wrong way).  The only way to
get rid of it entirely was with a new motherboard though.
