i don't know too much about video signals but i know thw gs video uses a 
composite sync signal - horizontal and vertical signals combined. the 
monitor i use right now needed separate sync signals (an old telidon 
terminal, but works like a charm, better resolution than apple's, and 
many times heavier.) there's a simple 8 pin chip that can extract the 
individual sync signals from a composite signal. i can check the number 
if anyone wants to know.
