Just a trivial bit of information, but unenhanced versions of
the Apple IIe would display "Apple ][" in on the splash screen. No letter
'e' was next the the square brackets. The original Apple II (cira 1977-78)
didn't have any splash screen at all (you had to ctrl-reset to get a monitor
prompt), although my revision 2 motherboard had a ROM update so it reads
"APPLE ][" (all caps) just as the Apple II Plus splash screen. At least I
assume the ROMs were updated, I don't think there were any part-number
820-0001-02 Apple ][ motherboards shipped with the AutoStart ROMs, were
there?
I had/or have owned, every model of the Apple II family, expect
for the Apple II Plus and Apple IIc Plus. Just out of curiousity, did those
models ever display the word "Plus" anywhere in the splash screen? :)
