I was wondering if someone else out there has run into the same problem.
Here goes:
At work we have a Quadra 660AV. The Quadra refuses to read disks that
are written to by my GS under the HFS FST. At first, I thought there
might be a problem with the GS's formatting under HFS so I used a Mac
IIsi to copy the files off the 800k floppy onto the IIsi's hard drive.
Next, I reformatted the floppy using the IIsi, and recopied the files
back onto the floppy disk. The Quadra 660AV had no problem reading the
files from then on.
However, I took the same disk to my GS, worked on some of the files, and
the Quadra 660AV then found the disk to be unreadable. A Mac IIsi
and Centris 610 could read the disk without any difficulty. Sigh!
All three models of Macintosh are running system 7. I disabled all the
desk accessories on the Quadra 660AV and it still could not read the
disk the GS wrote on. Therefore, there is a bug somewhere, on the GS
side or the Quadra's side. I vote for the Quadra since the GS disk works
on all the other Mac models I've ever used.
