First, the current operating system for the Apple IIGS is System 6.0.1,
which has the latest version of GS/OS. Authorized apple dealers should be
able to order you a copy for $39.00, and this'll include manuals. Apple dealers
should provide free copies of the system disk (it takes up 5 disks) if you
bring in your own blanks. System 6.0.1 requires 2 Megs of RAM minimum, and
a hard disk drive. I would recommend going for a 4 MEg ram card (TMS sells
the RAM GS card (with 4 megs) for $119. They also carry hard drives, and
lots of software. The number is 1-800-ASK-4TMS. I would recommend (highly) that
you subscribe to GS+ Magazine, which is bimonthly. It comes with a companion
disk, chock full of useful utilities and applications. It's about 50 pages
and contains Apple IIGS specific information. i don't know the order
number off hand, but i can dig it up if you are interested. What do you
plan on using your IIGS for? for word processing, data management, games,
education, it should still fit your bill! :) If you have any questions,
please e-mail me! I'll do the best I can to help you out!
