Well, I've never heard the rumor you describe but just on the small
chance that it refers to my Apple IIe emulator I thought I should reply.
I am currently writing an Apple IIe emulator. It emulates an enhanced IIe
with RamWorks(tm) memory expansion, clock card, mouse, and hard drive.
Possibly more cards will be emulated. Currently it runs IIe applications
about 75% the speed of a real IIe on my Centris 650. However I have spent
little time on speed, so I expect to be able to increase it's performance.
It handles all Apple IIe display modes and will read prodos-formatted
3.5 inch floppies. Since Dos 3.3 and 3.5 inch floppies are not friends,
Dos 3.3 can only be run from 140K Disk images. The interface at this
time is undecided. Right now I just have a window which contains the
Apple IIe screen. Applications I have run successfully so far include
Copy II Plus, AppleWriter, Merlin Pro, Ultima I, Shrinkit, and various
Applesoft Basic programs.
I expect to release a Beta version in 1-2 months. For more information
please send e-mail to sheldon@netcom.com.
