As many of you have noticed, the Internex Online FTP site (io.org)
has been down for the past couple of week. A 1.2-gig drive that
contained the Usenet news spool died and had to be replaced. In the
meantime, we decided that news takes priority over the FTP site, so that
1.7-gig drive was backed up onto tape and turned into the news drive.
We have received a replacement 1.2-gig drive, but it is being used to
install the system software on a new server. When that is done, it will
resume its duties as the io.org FTP site. I'll post a message when the
files are back online.
This doesn't have anything to do with the gigabyte-plus drive to be
installed on the grind.isca.uiowa.edu site. I'm just running the io.org
site in my spare time just to see how good I could make it. :)
