I've found a related problem: AppleWorks 4.0.1 seems to forget the
record selection rules in the data base (not specifically in reports,
this is just the general data base) if you are in the single record
layout and use the delete command - after you press escape, the record
selection rules revert to "all records".

The same thing happens in single record layout if you go down beyond
the last record and have the "auto add records at end" option enabled.

There is definitely a bug in there somewhere. I've just managed to get
the data base into a state where no record selection rules will "stick"
- it keeps reverting back to "all records". Instead of doing a record
selection, it is doing a find on the first matching record!

I think this happened when I did an "insert" in multiple-record layout
with a record selection rule active. It suddenly displayed all of the
records but claimed that there was a record selection rule active.
didn't do the insert, and when I pressed ESC twice (back to the main
menu, then into the data base again), the record selection rules had
reverted to "all records".

Removing the file from the desktop and reloading it seems to have fixed
the problem, but it is repeatable with all databases I've tried so
far. I was using a single "contains" rule, if that makes any difference.

I can't find anything wrong with record selection in the report
formats, from a quick check.
