Well, I recall having been able to write extra tracks on a 5.25 floppy,
with ProSel-8 and a patched ProDOS, so it might not be as unlikely a
situation as all that. You say you verified the extra blocks, did you
actually try filling the disk up to the last byte and then read from the
data in them? I know verifying should do that, but I'm a belt and
suspenders sort of guy. ;-)
