Compression

Hello,

Just wondering Auto-Ark is a file compression program.  Is hard pressed a
block level compressor?  

I saw a ad advertising hardpressed in II Alive.  It sounded like a block
level compress program.  There was a comparison of Auto Ark and HardPressed
in II Alive and in the article they both compressed files.  

Could ProDOS 8 programs get compressed with either compression program?  What
about if they are compressed on a HFS volume would they work?  Could a 
block level compress program be written for the IIGS or would there be a 
problem with ProDOS 8 files?
