Telenet (actually now called Sprintnet) is a packet-switching network which
allows users to reach remote computers (such as AOL) without calling long
distance. It is not associated with Internet in any way.
Telnet is a unix program which uses an Internet connection to connect you to
a remote computer (which is on the Internet). FTP and archie are related to
telnet.
You are using Telenet to reach AOL, and not telnet. You need access to a
Unix system which is on the Internet to use telnet.
