You actually hooked up a 5.25" Apple drive to a IIci and your logic board is still intact? Please, E-Mail me the drive model number to blarose@aol.com - THIS I have to see for myself...
One way that I suck stuff off of ProDOS disks is to convert them to 3.5" then use the ProDOS filing system extension out of a //e Card Software kit. Lets your Mac mount a ProDOS volume just like a Mac (or PC with PC Exchange) volume. Of course, if you could get the thing on a 3.5 your problem isn't important any more... :)
Also, you may want to check with your local apple Servicer. Most of us have IIgs machine with both flavors of floppies hangiong around. They may be willing to convert the stuff for you for a nominal fee...
