Re: Apple2 Archive Update

In a prior missive, jamesb@ecst.csuchico.edu (James L. Brookes) eloquently
scribed this stuff:

Here are the particulars on the 3.5" drives that Seagate manufactures:

                              ST - 11200N

       UNFORMATTED CAPACITY (MB) ________________1,248
FORMATTED CAPACITY (xx SECTORS) (MB) _____1,054

                              ST - 11201N

       UNFORMATTED CAPACITY (MB) ________________1,248
FORMATTED CAPACITY (xx SECTORS) (MB) _____1,054

                            ST-31200N

       UNFORMATTED CAPACITY (MB) ________________1200
FORMATTED CAPACITY (xx SECTORS) (MB) _____1050

FYI, the Seagate model numbering format is as follows:

ST - ABBBBC

A: Form-factor. 1 = 3.5" HH, 2 = 5.25" HH, 3 = 3.5" 1", 4 = 5.25" FH
B: Estimated unformatted capacity
C: Controller-type. N = SCSI, A = IDE, E = ESDI, R = RLL

There's also ND = SCSI differential and NV = Novell-certified.

(Wanders off mumbling something about drives is me)

Be seeing you...
