I think I just compunded a problem that already existed in the board
itself (hence the erratic behavior in my GS). It would do strange things
like read rapid pessing of the Apple & Option keys (though they were not
being pressed), even with the keyboard and all peripheral cards unplugged,
and it would currupt ORCA files when I tried to edit them, and other
erratic behavior. It got worse and more common as time went on.
I would like to point out that I have done lots of hacking on my Apple
equipment (for example, I completely took apart my RAM card and put
sockets under all the chips. I still use the same RAM chips today)
and I have never had a problem before.
I "solved" the problem by buying a new (used) GS from Shreve Systems.
