Are you by any chance using High-density diskettes instead of DS/DD
diskettes? The IIGS doesn't care but if you format an HD diskette using
GS/OS then the Mac won't recognize it at all. It expects to find a 1.44Meg
format on an HD diskette. Of course, if you format an HD diskette on the
Mac it will be in 1.44Meg format and the IIGS won't recognize it. I
routinely trade files back and forth between my office Mac (IIci) and my
IIGS at home. I have successfully used disks formatted on either the Mac
or the GS. The only failures I have experienced occurred when I tried using
HD diskettes on the IIGS. By way of experiment I just covered the extra
hole on an HD and formatted it in the Mac then removed the cover and tried
to read it -- the Mac gagged and said it was improperly formatted.
