So? Dealing with IP addressing, etc...is a pain. The system I have is plug
and play. You're not going to achieve the 10MB/sec throuput in any case. I've
been running both NFS and my Appletalk approach on part of my test network.
Perhaps the problem is that I don't feel like hiring a systems' person in
order to handle a network. With very little knowledge I have a network that
includes almost every type of micro, a Unix box, printers, faxmodem. It's
all working. The systems' people at work spend their time forever tuning the
system and don't have half the functionality I have.
TCP/IP based networking may be fine in a Unix environment. It's less than
appealing when you have mixed networks, consisting of PC's, Mac's, Amiga's
and even the GS. Why do you think Cayman does so well with its routers?
The bottom line is that connecting up even Mac's and NeXT's is a bit of a
pain using TCP/IP based solutions. I for one don't find TCP/IP, NFS, netinfo,
etc...appealing. Like most of Unix it has yet to come into the real world.

Maybe, but there's no point in having a V-8 sitting around in the driveway.
