Re: rSounds -- How to play them?

Well, for those of you who don't read InCider/A+, the January issue contains
a story by none other than Joe Kohn, entitled 'Enriching System 6'. He
describes a couple of Finder Extensions which will play rSounds by simply
double clicking on the file.

The first is FinderSounder, by Mike Fleming. This should appeal to us college
'kids', since it's FREEware. ;-) The bad news is, it requires the sound CDEV
to be installed.

The second, simply entitled Ear, is by Chris McKinsey. This carries a
shareware fee of $10, but apparantly has more features. In addition to
playback of rSounds, Joe reports it can also play SynthLab and SoundSmith
songs, and ASIF and HyperStudio sound files. I was unable to locate this
using archie, and I don't know if it needs the sound CDEV, but I'm sure
someone else (Joko?) has this info.

The moral? If InCider/A+ and Joko keep putting out issues like January, then
the flames knocking said magazine are quite unfounded. There was enough info
in this one article alone to justify it's worthiness, and I only bought it to
check out current hardware prices! Keep it up, Joe!
