The next is an 040 based workstation that runs a VERY large OS called NeXTStep.
NeXTstep runs on the Mach Unix system.  Really the machine is just now getting  
fast enough for its operating system.. a typical system is a 33mhz 040, a 
25 mhz 56000 DSP, at least 250 meg hard disk(400+ recomended) and 16+ meg ram.  
and a 17" monocrome or color monitor. It cannot run Mac or DOS but it can read  
the disks.  There is soft pc available for it.  the gui is vaguely mac like but  
a lot nicer.
Over all it is a nice machine running at about 20 mips.
with a price tag of about 6-15 thousand.
