Windows describes two different products. But, 7 is not the correct
version for the NT branch, 6.1 is the correct version.

Here's the original Windows product timeline:

Windows 1.0x (1985-1987)
Windows 2.0x (1987)
Windows 2.1x (1988)
Windows 3.0 (1990)
Windows 3.1x (1992-1993)
Windows 3.2 (China only, 1994)
Windows 4.0 (aka 95, 1995)
Windows 4.1 (aka 98, 1998)
Windows 4.9 (aka ME, 2000)

And, the Windows NT product timeline:

Windows NT 3.1 (1993)
Windows NT 3.5x (1994-1995)
Windows NT 4.0 (1996)
Windows NT 5.0 (2000, 2000)
Windows NT 5.1 (XP, 2001)
Windows NT 5.2 (XP 2003 for Itanium, Server 2003, and XP x64,
2003-2005)
Windows NT 6.0 (Vista and Server 2008, 2006-2008)
Windows NT 6.1 (7 and Server 2008 R2, 2009)
