Nahhhh.... ;-)
I wrote it originally because I had a Disk ][ that was wonky and
realized: I have no idea how to ensure this drive really works
correctly or how to calibrate it. (Stepper motor wound up being bad)
The original thought was I want to play games and not have to worry
about which of my disks are actually still any good, so how to get
games with only a minimal set of hardware? Well, the serial card
still worked well so I set out to do as much as I could without
needing anything other than a serial card.
Anyway, there are disk images that are way too complicated for me to
do anything about -- especially NIB images and games that employ their
own custom OS routines. Maybe in the future I'll try to tackle a few
of my favorites (Jordan Mechner and Utilma games especially), but for
now it seems that packaging up what I've done into a more usable
format is the way to go.
Does anyone think requiring a GUI environment to run AGS is a bad
limitation?
