Granted. I just wish Apple had been willing to release enough
documentation for third parties to be able to write FSTs.

I expect that the documentation doesn't actually exist (beyond source
code for existing FSTs and GS/OS), and it would have been too much work
to write another manual, so someone made an executive decision not to
publish any information on writing FSTs.

It would be too much to hope that they might release source code.
