Will you get overly annoyed if I inject another comment from the sideline?

The volume lookup is pretty slow with no disk in S6,D2 and a four-volume
CFFA card in my //e. First the non-existing 5.25 floppy is probed and
the drive knocks. Then the system takes a fairly long time until all the
CFFA volumes appear. It seems to have to read a lot of information from
each partition, or maybe it goes through complicated calculations to
find out that each volume is 32MB in size.

Can you think of any way of getting around this problem? Maybe one could
designate a "default" drive for transferring several floppy disk images
in a row? "Batch" doesn't really do it for me since I usually transfer
stuff in the direction PC -> Apple.
