Personally, I can't comment on the "automated" drive cleaning disks. I
think I did use one back in the day without any problems, but you
would probably be hard pressed to find one these days.

Ultimately, as long as you are careful, you probably can't get a
better job than cleaning the heads yourself. But again, you do need to
be careful when dismantling the drive and what solution you use to
clean the heads - hence where that document I mentioned previously
becomes invaluable.

When I get home tonight, I'll see if I can't dig that document up
(providing someone else hasn't already found it for you).
