That's alright. Everyone does that sometimes. I am still wondering if I
over-thought the SSC adaption though. I even made a nice table to convert
from SSC header to D25F to D25M. Then I went straight from the header to M
entries. I'm wondering if doing the signal pair reversals (TX for RX etc
based on nullmodem standards) was the right thing to do. As I said in a
different post it works in Terminal mode perfectly. I'm just couldn't get
it to work in Modem mode.

Don't I know it. Memory is a funny thing. Here's an example;
A couple of days ago I resumed work on my USB serial adaptor. However I had
borrowed the jumper connector for my other project. It took me ages before
i could even remember what or where the other project was. The answer was
the the diskII to PC floppy adaptor by the way.
While I'm on an OT tangent. I tried to get a 74LS05 or '06 to fix my clone
controller card so I could get back to that project. They don't stock the
things. However they have some real exotics there! Speaking of exotic... I
have a couple of stereo DAC ICs that take a single serial data input. Can
anyone think of a use for them?

For nearly every architecture there are strange transition models.
The best example taht comes to mind is my old 486. Or pentium with a 486
socket depending on how you want to look at it.
It has ISA, VLB, and PCI slots. It supports 4 ATA drives. It has a slot for
a cache board, and takes 72pin EDO RAM. Yet it is a 486.
Near the end of its active service I bought it a Hyperace 586 chip board
thingy. That gave it roughly p75 performance. I still have that computer.

End of tangent.

I got my IIgs today. This should help me address some of the communication
problems. Once I make some kind of 240v supply for it. It will be a
challenge because the only place I could get affordable (for me) computer
gear has recently gotten rid of all that. Something to do with legal
issues.

back on tangent. For many years I tried to get hold of a IIgs to back up
some of my apple][ software. Now things like ADT etc have come about the
original need disappeared. Unfortunately during that timespan some of the
disks are very dead. Very sad. Don't suppose anyone else has "The First
Fleet Convicts" apple ][ version. Interesting program.
