Interesting. That's one way to do it. Have more ROM on the card than
RAM on the mainboard! I suppose it banks the character you want into
the onboard RAM or something. Have you seen the pic of the card here?

The hiragana look quite nice. It has the resolution that the GS
_should_ have had, and way back in 1980 or so. ;-)
