Re: what new 8-bit software / port would you want?

Hi Michael,

No, it's just that the current code is targeted towards embedded
systems which tend to come without OS filesystem support.

I didn't fiddle with that because my Contiki for the Apple2 focuses on
the client type apps, not on the server type ones. The web server was
running AS IS without effort so I just included it.

I presume this is also the reason that the browser cannot open
HTML files on the host.

No, the web browser is by far the biggest client type app. There was
simply no more RAM left for the 'file:' protocol beside the 'http:'
protocol on the original target system. Contiki 1.3 for the enhanced
128k Apple//e could likely accomodate for the web browser with 'file:'
support but I didn't modify / extended Contiki apps - beside fixing
bugs.

I see.

I'm sure that space is tight, but the only difference between http:
and file: is that the local file system is accessed instead of the
remote file system. I'd expect that to be both simple and compact
(except for file system buffer(s)).
