As Ed pointed out, every time you access a disk, RWTS attempts to read data to see if a disk is spinning. I know of no program that used this approach to detect an original disk. Data cannot be read reliably until the disk is near its correct speed, and drives differ considerably in the time required to reach full speed, so it would be difficult to use the acceleration period reliably across different drives. -michael NadaNet networking for Apple II computers!
