Re: RAM-4-GS testimonials

Here's my 2c worth, bearing in mind that I have never used nor
purchased a RAM-4-GS.
It's fairly obvious (to me) that the lack of signal buffering opens up
the possibility that under certain circumstances the RAM-4-GS will
malfunction due to noise induced by other components within the system.
Considering that the board works fine in every mentioned circumstance
thus far bar Pauls higher performance accelerators, I see no reason to
label the card unacceptably bad.
Let's put this is perspective: We are talking about an extremely simple
board that is designed (as far as I can see) to be minimalist, thus
making it feasible to constuct for very little money, and thus be sold
for very little money. It's a buyers market at the end of the day and
you pay for what you get. In my opinion, you get quite a bit for your
money with the RAM-4-GS, and you're unlikely to source another 4mb RAM
card for the money.
As long as people are aware of the potential issues, I see no reason to
recommend against purchasing a RAM-4-GS. If I needed a RAM card for my
IIgs I'd buy one.
However, Bill, if you are going to produce another run, you may want to
consider integrating the suggested changes, as this will increase the
potential market for your product, and shouldn't overly complicate the
board layout. It may perhaps mean the board size is physically
increased, increasing the cost of the PCB, but hey, just pass the cost
on to the customer.
