    I would have to say the AppleColor RGB, at least if we're talking about
the original. When looking at the screen with the power off, some Apple
tubes appear green and there's a newer one that is a light grey. The one
with the deep black has the best color saturation and black contrast.
The color on this display is really just incredible.

    I don't have a IIgs cable for the Amiga 1080 but using it on my Amiga's
I can see the colors are very washed out looking. How it looks and works
on the IIgs I can't say (it looks quite nice on my Commodore 64's mind you,
using the split Chroma/Luma input).

    As for the NEC 3D, I have connected it to my GS and thought the
colors looked washed out (like the Amiga display, it's a grey tinted tube).
The glass is also more curved than the Apple display which bothers me
since it somewhat distorts the image. On the plus side it IS much larger
than the Apple monitor and sharper (the latter is a downside for color
dithering in the 640 mode however).

    Yep. It even has a high density 15-pin VGA connector permanently 
attached. In order to use it on the Apple IIGS just requires an off the
shelf Mac-to-VGA adapter--it automatically detects the signal is 15 kHz
and syncs down when connected to the GS.

    It should also work with the Apple IIe (via an RGB card) and Apple III
since it looks like it has a digital RGB switch. There's a sliding switch 
marked Color: "Auto, 8, 16, 64". Unlike the Sony, these NEC 3D's 
seem somewhat common, I've seen several of them in thrift shops 
and even one in the trash a few months ago.
