I have never heard of Apple II+ cards that combine Memory Expansion and
80 column capability on one and the same card. That type of card was
used only on the IIe, where it goes into the AUX slot.
Does the power light on your Apple II+ still light up? If not, I suspect
the power supply was damaged.

You described exactly the board I was trying to make works. The power
supply is fine, the light comes on, so I think that the fact that the
computer stopped working after I put this card in to slot#0 is just
because it felt to do so on that moment...
I borrowed an oscilloscope and discovered that there is no clock going
to the micro, even if the oscillator is working fine giving about
14MHz. So now I'm downloading schematics to track the problem.
