o keep trying with the cable a few more times. if the system seems to
be no better than when you started, i.e. the failure symptoms are not
changing (lock ups) when you massage the cable and bend the pins, then
I'd start looking at other things.

o if you have a spare IIgs you could try the Transwarp in that. then
you'll get a clue if it's the card & cable, or not.

o the description of "warm up, reboot, & works" also suggest that you
look at the ps too (taken care of in a box swap)

I'd get a replacement motherboard box from Bill, or ebay before
attempting to desolder a CPU socket. They use to be about $15-30 before
shipping on ebay.
