My phrasing here was unfortunate; obviously you need to have a file
system implementation *in order to* create a directory tree visible to
Linux; that's the whole purpose of the file system. I meant to say that
you can *skip the step* of creating a Linux-visible directory tree, and
instead create a .po image from the disk by simple utilities, then use
a user-land utility on a .po image (analogous to your CiderPress) to
extract useful data from that .po image.

Good point; I have to plead complete ignorance on how ProDOS/GSOS
created partition tables, and whether they are at all comprehended by
Linux.
