Bad news steve, NIMH's probably will not work.  Especially if your
charger is just a plug in transformer type.  NIMH batteries are a lot
more sensitive and require a charging curcuit to monitor and shut off
the charging cycle.  Thus an NiMH charger will probably charge NiCads,
but not the other way around.

NiMH's are nicer though for electronics due to their higher density and
flatter discharge curve.
