well...that makes sense...but right now i find i can have the clipboard in
a obvious place..underfoot...thus i tend to pick it up with pencil and go
over to the various cabinet (1 cabinet so far equials 407 items) yeah i got
a
few cabinets/closets and rubbermaid containers....anyway with said clip
board
i then can write stuff down ..before my feeble little mind gets distracted
by the
restroom ..or food....or internet por...er...you get my point...

now archiving my disks with ciderpress and scanning this stuff into .pdf's
and
rooting thru file cabinets...well...i have to get everything setup and buy
equip
ie scanner....something better then a 350mhz computer..etc etc

so... i simply write stuff down and wander around...once done or close to
done
i'll get the stuff and .pdf everything....(for backup if no other reason)
and pass it
around..this will help me tell what i have and where it is...then i will
have to find
the util disks/backup disks/scattered hd's with old bbs pkgs/old apple //
bbs area
from the gonzo has a huge amount of apple ii stuff..etc...;

so at that point if i want to run said hardware/software pkgs etc i have
found in
the cabinets i will have to be more or less in one place the computer room
and
put the little disk in...copy stuff into my old cffa 256mb scan disk chip
and then
pop it onto the pc....use ciderpress and the master disk
catalog...repeat...and
that is another 2000 bits of disks/data/scsi backups....(jeez i have about
15
siders w/no idea what is on them...) ad nauseum...

anyway believe it or not the clipboard and inventory is easy...the xfering
the disks
will really be as you state a "bit at a time" but hard to get the old
wildcard to work
if you don't know where the install disk it....(i see it once in awhile it
falls out from
someplace..or another....then i misplace it....)

to save this stuff for prosperity ..i'd be better off making a garage sized
water
tight time capsule and buring it in the smithstodian parking lot with a
marker saying
don't open till 2221 or some such....let them sort it out...

if i really get burnt i'll start setting up the software xfer system...the
pawn shop friend
i have just laughs...he has less stuff then me and a pawn shop system....it
is embarassing

anyway...at least when summer comes i can haul a rubber maid container out
on the
lawn..in a rubber maid box...and get a tan while i write stuff down...if
nothing else a
lot of people walking buy will wonder what the hell i'm up too...

with my luck someone else around here with as much junk as i have will give
me theirs

and to add insult to injury..i have prob as much stuff for
bbs's....worldgroup...and others
doors....majormud..servers..docs..etc that i prob also need to keep track
of..assuming
i ever want to get the apple // lost gonzo bbs's back up on the net some
day...tpro and fv/metal
...another problem...when that market crashed...you guessed it...those neato
32 line systems
downloading qiffy girls etc..donated their junk to me for shipping...

the good news is i don't get as much stuff..hard to get a sider (last i saw
was like 128 or some
thing on ebay...) when you used to get them for 15 bucks and shipping in
1999..so...that ship
has passed..but then again...if i would have been organized i would prob
have sold stuff a
couple years ago....or some of it...a real head scratcher.....sit on some
stuff ..or sell....
not a problem now..cause i can't find it to put it together next year i lose
that viewpoint when
sorta sorted....

anyway keeps me out of trouble...

good to have a goal...

i need a life...
