I was hoping for an answer from an author or two, not an obvious response stated in a condescending way.

Then don't ask in an arrogant way.

Perhaps I missed it, Roy.

Point out the arrogance for me:

The whole tone. Who is he to make demands of others?

Show me just what demand he made. He made two statements that both happen to be fact.

He then asked two questions, neither of which showed any trace of arrogance.

That's called arrogance.

What you're exhibiting could be called arrogance or holier-than-thou. What he did was neither.

Further, there IS open source work being done. Did he mention it? No. Why not? Hmmm??

It wasn't the purpose of his post. It seems you're the one making demands.

Question one: "Is software like Proterm still making the authors a reasonable sum of money?"

A yes or no would suffice, but answers, as well as opinions, could be all over the map...

Question two: "If not, how come it hasn't been open-sourced?"

followed by a mild disclaimer: " (If it is somehow making oodles of cash, then never mind, of course"

And a smiley: " };) )"

Now this question seems to be limited to the publishers of Proterm or similarly situated programs, who would have to be the ones to answer it...

You're the one that got all pissy about it.
