Re: LC Mac Apple IIe card

Wouldn't think so. But software that doesn't use too much RAM can be run
on the Mac at the same time as the IIe card.
I pulled out my CC(with 575 motherboard) and played with it a bit.
It looks like the Mac and IIe card share the speaker as I was able
to use quicktime to play music while I used the IIe card. One of the
big holdbacks is that to run the IIe card the Mac has to have 32 bit
memory addressing turned off which limits it to 8mb usable RAM. In
my case, using OS 7.5 and with the IIe software running I'm left with
only 3.5mb RAM to run other apps. OS 7 would leave more available RAM
but I like 7.5 a bit better.
If I want to run other apps while running the IIe card, I boot the IIe
card first and then go into the IIe cards control panel which puts me
in the Macs muli-finder where I can boot other programs. A program
like quicktime will then use every k of RAM that's left.
An emulater on a newer Mac might be a better idea if you want to run
other software concurrantly. Especially since pre-G3 Macs are worth
next to nothing. Still there's something to be said for having an
Apple II floppy drive that you can run software from rather than
bothering with disk images
