what ProDOS stands for?) for Apple II. I may have to get a copy of that from
them to start with at least. I was hoping that Apple II drives could somehow
be connected to PCs much like Commdore 1541 drives can by the x1541 cables.
At least there is a "somewhat" easy solution that doesn't cost too much.

ProntoDOS isn't ProDOS.  It's a DOS 3.3 hack.
