My first computer wasn't an Apple II (it was a TI-99/4A), but I still have
the IIe (long since mutated into a "stealth IIGS") that my parents bought
new in 1985. It's right in front of me on the desk, but it doesn't get used
daily anymore. It does get fired up every once in a while, though. It
hosts the development environment (such as it is...just an assembler and a
BASIC editor) that I used to write the beer-fridge control software that's
currently running on a couple of other IIs around here. (Still need to fix
it so the compressor doesn't get switched back on until it's been off for at
least five minutes; right now, I just let the temperature swing enough that
that doesn't happen.)
