Re: My rev-zero Apple II lives again!
Congrats Tim on getting your original Apple II up and running again!
This brings up a great subject about original owners and their machines. I
still have my original Apple II+ thanks to my brother storing it for over 10
years. When I asked him a few years back about it we went into his garage
and dug it out of a box. To my horror a mouse had made a home inside the
case complete with shredded paper. I brought it home and started cleaning.
The videx card had a separate card that went into the 9334 socket and that
board was damaged. I removed the videx card and replaced the 9334. I cleaned
out the inside of the case and replaced the original speaker that had been
chewed on by the previous occupant. I fired it up and it worked great! Every
key still worked and both Disk ][ drives were in working order. Thanks to
Computerland setting up the computer in their store to "test it out" I
didn't get the original boxes. My ][plus sits next to my PC today and I use
it often. I just ordered a CFFA card and I'm going to set it up with DOS
MASTER to store my DOS disk images.
Who else has their first computer that was an Apple ][? Where did you get it
and do you still use it?
