Thanks; glad you like the scans. Each galley sheet is a whole tabloid page
reduced to a regular size sheet; so, yes, it's very compact. The problem with
doing earlier, magazine format issues that way-- e.g., reformatting and putting
2-3 pages of content on one page-- is that you lose the actual appearance of
the issue.
For the type-ins, at least starting around issue #52, you can get the
stuff on the 'Library Disks'. Many of those are on USA2WUG at
http://apple2.org.za/gswv/USA2WUG/ComputistLibraryDisks/ .

I've experimented with zipping PSP-produced jpegs of scans before and
discovered you get nearly zero additional compression. (Just now did a test on
one-- the 646k jpeg got reduced to a 645k .zip file!)
At 1100x1600 and 16 colors, the 650k pages are probably about as compact
as they can get without a major sacrifice in quality.
