repairs myself. Like many I didn't have another testing method except
stripping the insulating wrapper and checking the wires. Pulling was
not my method of choice as broken wires will generally bend at the
break and many weakened wires can be felt. Due to the size of the
wires, they can rarely take much metal stress. >>
Doesn't really matter much, because once you have the wires stripped back, I
just shorten all of them anyway. If one wire was altered by bending back and
forth, chances are good that more wires are getting near the breaking point. I
usually pull the wires to find the broken one just for grins, since all of them
are getting shortened anyway.
