Also, to help determine whether or not it IS a cable problem, take the mouse and try to move it back and forth or up and down (whichever one has the bad direction). While moving it flex the cable, push on it, pull on it, and try to get the wire to make contact. If the mouse starts moving in the direction it wasn't before, even if for a brief second, the cable is bad. Raymond
