The epson printer cable isn't useful... it has a 6-pin serial connector 
on the printer-side...

i stopped by RS after getting the cable and they didn't carry 6-pin 
serial plugs.  i seem to remember compUSA having them (6pin converter 
plugs) but i may have been mistaken....

i guess i'll have to redo the cable...  sigh...
