And, being that you're so high on having a source, could you give one
for the statement where you said that IBM bailed out Apple? I don't
seem to remember that.

Maybe the original poster of that statement will repost,
it was something I read on one of the usergroups also.
I guess I should've kept quiet. I have a bad habit of speaking
out of turn. Sorry.

Hey Bill, are you thinking of Microsoft rather than IBM? I'm not clear
on the details, but I believe MS was instrumental in keeping Apple on
the go during the late 90's. Some cynical folks would suggest that they
did this because the continued existence of Apple Computer Inc was
evidence against the Microsoft monopoly.

Does anyone know how much money Microsoft makes from selling their products
(mainly MS Office) for the Mac platform? I'm not a mac user, so I don't
know how popular Office is on the mac, but unless MS is making considerable
monies from this arrangement, a case could certainly be made for the
"cynical" point of view of which you speak.

I've seen reports that they make several hundred million dollars in profit. For some companies, that could be the whole show, but for M$ it's probably pocket change. Still, BG doesn't seem like the kind of guy who will miss an opportunity to make a few more bucks, unless, in the long run, he thinks he can make still more (XBox)
