That was one of the clues I thought might have been a definite guide,
but it isn't as clear cut as that.

I don't recall where I got this information (probably a posting from
someone else) but there are apparently late model 800K drives which also
have a yellow activity LED, so you cannot use this to conclusively
identify a SuperDrive.

In addition, the LED is part of the drive enclosure - the mechanism
might have been swapped, so the LED colour only indicates the most
likely drive mechanism.
